The Gunpowder Revolution exploded onto the scene in China, Nomadic dynasties and Europe, but almost instantly afters its rise, declined dramatically in all societies except Europe. Gunpowder was first invented and used in China when its explosive reaction was discovered. Not long after its discovery, The Mongols saw its potential and advanced both the powder (by using it in cannons) and also their technology. As the Mongols conquered and dominated, their ways of warfare were carried to the Nomadic dynasties, and even as far as Europe. Societies all over the world improved their military technology, resulting in new political and social changes.
Soon after its potential was realized, it disappeared from most warfare. China, along with some of the Nomadic dynasties, either limited or abolished the use of gunpowder fearing its affects. The governments within each of these societies were scared that the technology would lead to military dominance. Reforms were brought in in hopes of salvaging the deteriorating imperialist systems, but were unsuccessful. Other places at the time wished they could use gunpowder, but because of its expenses, were unable to continue doing so.
Europe, however, could fund the gunpowder they used, and dominated greatly because of it. “The gunpowder revolution eventually tipped the global balance of power in favor of the peoples of Christian Europe.”
